Small Batch Collection
From time to time we see small parcels of fruit that stand out in the vineyard or winery and this Small Batch project gives us the opportunity to give these wines their own voice.
It may be a barrel or two, an unusual variety, a particular clone or even a section of the vineyard that ripens differently - we don't necessarily wish to define rules other than to presume these will be small quantities of 'one-off' wines that are made with minimal intervention and only when we see something unique or special. The 'X' on the label represents the chalk marking made on the first barrels set aside for this project.

The colour is bright and pale gold, and the aromatics display characters of pear and apple. The palate is lively displaying lemon, stone fruits and a subtle almond nutty character. The finish is clean, with great acidity and a lingering fruit presence. We expect this wine will show its best after a few years aging in the bottle.

A tightly packed chardonnay displaying rich fruit flavours and a buttery character from malolactic fermentation. The wine shows a full mouthfeel derived from the lees work and a big French oak influence. The palate has length and drive towards the long finish, with broad intensity.

The colour is a light berry red, with powerful aromatics in the glass. Sour cherry and red berry fruit are at the fore, supported by complex savoury and earthy aromas. The palate is light and characterised by red fruit, brambly ‘bunch’ character and a subtle minerality. Smooth, drying tannins and bright acidity provide structure and length. An ideal style to serve chilled.
